Jets say defense knew Stafford's signals in rout

Linebacker Darron Lee told reporters after the game that the offense was easy to read. But even when Lee and other members of the starting defense went up to Darnold after that play and told him he was going to be fine, that they had his back, they nearly felt like it didn't need to be said-they didn't get the sense that he needed that reassurance.

Asked how they knew Stafford's signals, Lee said, "Study".

"I knew at a very young age the strategic part of the game was something that I just loved", Patricia said when he was hired in February. "It seemed like we were in his head as a defense". At one point, the Jets were down three of their top five defensive back due to injuries. NY completely buried the Lions in Detroit on Monday Night Football, and the exact moment it ended can be traced back to the third quarter.

The New York Jets' defense jumped all over Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions on Monday night.

And for the first time, Patricia will be an National Football League head coach in a game that counts Monday night in Detroit against the New York Jets.

"There's not a lot to be happy about", Patricia said.

Matt Patricia has appeared to push the Detroit Lions more than they ever were under Jim Caldwell. This was a night for optimism for a franchise that far too often has had far too little of it.

It actually began with a flourish for Detroit when Quandre Diggs intercepted rookie Sam Darnold on the first play from scrimmage and went 37 yards for a touchdown.

That was followed by Lee's pick-six, the first the Jets have had since Antonio Allen picked off Tom Brady and scored on October 20, 2013. Do you think we need more?

There were boos from the crowd later in the quarter, though.

Trump speculates about the author of "unfair" piece published this week
Woodward describes Trump regularly insulting key members of his own team, who are in turn contemptuous of the president. He told Fox News: "What they've done is virtually, you know, it's treason, you could call it a lot of things".

The Jets' defense made one more stop just before halftime, holding the Lions to a field goal that kept the Jets' lead at 17-10 at the break.

That decidedly Jets drought came to an end on Monday.

Watch Roberts evade the first group of tacklers, then tiptoe his way down the sideline to give NY a 21-point lead.

The first touchdown pass of Darnold's career came with 1:51 left in the half on a 41-yard heave to Robby Anderson.

Andre Roberts had a tremendous game returning punts.

Lee took an errant Stafford pass 36 yards to pay dirt in the third quarter, jumping running back Theo Riddick's route to record the Jets' first defensive touchdown since 2013.

Somehow the Jets went 73 games without that happening.

"I told those guys in there, 'I'll take this one, '" Stafford said.

"They're always very smart", Bowles said. "But you try to do a good job of gauging your players and how they're handling the week".

There was nearly nothing for the Lions to feel good about.
