Dwight Howard Wants To Come Back To The Lakers & Play Alongside LeBron

Posted July 04, 2018

James' decision to move west to the Los Angeles Lakers already looks to have a flurry of affects across the league, whether directly involved with the Lakers or Cavs, or indirectly as a chain-reaction.

The Lakers have failed to reach the playoffs for the past five seasons.

"The Lakers had felt a sense of urgency this week to find a co-star (for) LeBron", either the Oklahoma City Thunder's Paul George or the San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne said in a tweet on Sunday.

This is a marked difference from how things went with the Cleveland Cavaliers when James returned in 2014.

Despite his advancing years and the wear and tear on his body, James remains the game's most dominant player - and one of sports highest-paid.

While his first letter from 2010 was written in comic sans - and one that James himself said was racial - Gilbert's second attempt was much more professional and gracious.

LeBron James agrees to sign with Los Angeles Lakers
But James joining the Lakers could give them more leverage in talks with the Spurs now that James is already a Laker. The Sixers , meanwhile, were able to secure a meeting with LeBron's representatives in Los Angeles this afternoon.

The Lakers won't challenge for a championship in the short term that way.

This is James' third team in eight years.

On Sunday night, shortly after news of LeBron's deal with the Lakers broke, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed Leonard wanted to join the three-time National Basketball Association champion in his hometown.

Nearly immediately after the James news was announced, it was reported that San Antonio Spurs superstar Kawhi Leonard is "set" on being a Los Angeles Laker as a result of James signing with the team.

After years of struggling, the Lakers now have the best player in the world to lead their impressive young core.

The Lakers jerseys will ship seven to 10 days after James officially signs his contract. "The acquisition of LeBron James means that the Lakers are just a smidgen away from being real contenders", Lakers icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar added. The team from OH made a number of trades at this past year's trade deadline, drafted Collin Sexton with the No. 8 pick in the NBA Draft and have most of its core outside of James, of course, locked up.
