GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories - A 19-year-old Palestinian shot by Israeli occupation forces during protests along the Gaza border last week died from his wounds on Thursday, the health ministry in the Palestinian enclave said.

Therefore, the newspaper explained, the Israeli army's rules of engagement "are consistent with both Israeli and global law".

"The state opposes the applying of human rights law during an armed conflict", the reply stated, pointing out that the Red Cross had stated that human rights law did not necessarily apply during periods of war.

"The Palestinian protests on Gaza's border fall into the "state of war" category, thus human rights laws do not apply to the [Israeli army's] rules of engagement in this regard", Haaretz reported.

Three Palestinians were killed and 880 others wounded last Friday during clashes between dozens of Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers along the borders.

After the Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1, Rozier was asked about the significance of wearing a Bledsoe jersey. Later in the series, Bledsoe responded to a question about Rozier by telling reporters, "I don't know who the f-k that is".

There were no early reports of deaths or injuries at the five tented camps which have sprung up on the Palestinian side of the 25-mile (40km) border fence beside which Gazans launched what they call "The Great March of Return" on March 30.

In a statement, the Israeli army admitted that it had opened fire on a "suspect" near the border in the northern Gaza Strip.

Hamas has said the protests highlight a decade-long Israeli-Egyptian blockade and press to revive Palestinian demands to return to homes in what is now Israel.

The rallies are part of a six-week protest that will culminate on May 15.
