The Echo Spot is a cross between speaker and smart alarm clock, round and sphere-like and with a screen. Weighing 419g, it is lighter than the Amazon Echo and Echo Plug and doesn't include dual speakers. The hardware and the service will both start shipping on May 9th, 2018. Alexa will still respond, without the positive reinforcement, if someone doesn't say please. Like the regular Echo Dot, the colorful models are hands-free, voice-controlled speakers that tap into Alexa. The company has also rolled out special offers on other Echo products as part of the Spot promotion.
All of those features with FreeTime for Alexa will be available for free for Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Plus users through an over-the-air update that's coming on May 9. The device also has an acoustic beam-forming technology and enhanced noise cancellation support.
